About OUT OF FOCUS
With a particular vision and individual focuses of interest, five photographers share one passion, concerns and strong common beliefs about how and why they document our world, while trying to understand it. Pauline Beugnies, Aurélie Grimberghs, Thomas Freteur and Colin Delfosse founded "Out of Focus" in 2005 and were joined in 2008 by Alice Smeets and in 2011 by Thomas Vanden Driessche. Together they document social issues - culture, poverty, and development as well as political and environmental conflicts to produce a constant testimony of the cruelty but also the beauty that the human race faces every day. What unites "Out of Focus" is a dedication to their passion and a motivation to work on long-term projects. A photographers collective that regularly likes to lift the images out of their usual context by exhibiting in the streets and open spaces.
