Her dad (biological and on the papert) is gay and lives in Frankfurt. He comes every second weekend to visit her. Shaya lives with her mums and their best friend Ari as well as Michael, her husband in a modern family in a little village called Fränkisch-Krumbach, close to Darmstadt in Germany. Sometimes some of Michaels six daugthers come to visit the family. This weekend it is Laksmi. Ari's mum "adopted" Shaya as her grandchild. This weekend it's Shayas first birthday and friends come to visit.
